April 2025 Exam Results
Exam Format
The April 2025 exam session marked a return to in-person, closed-book assessments after several years of online open-book format instigated by the COVID pandemic. While there was some uncertainty leading up to this sitting due to the changes being made relatively late in the study session – overall, the experience went smoothly for the vast majority of our team.
The change in format meant that students had to adjust their preparation and study methods to suit closed-book format, relying on trusty mnemonics and other memorisation techniques rather than on notes and quick searches. As well as the new learning techniques required, there was also some uncertainty in how the exam papers themselves might change to allow for the difference in format, although some of our students felt that the content and structure of the in-person exams didn’t differ all that much from the open-book versions.
Exam Results
APR staff handled the transition very well, achieving 43 passes out of 50 attempts (86%), including a 100% pass rate in 10 subjects. Our company’s pass rate exceeded the IFoA’s overall pass rate in a vast majority of exams in this sitting.

Highlights
Congratulations to all our staff on their exam results. Special mention goes to:
- Julie Jaiyen, Katie Neill, Laura Westcott, Michael Lausch and Ross Witney-Hunter who all pass their last exams for Fellowship at the IFoA.
- Richard Chappell and William Richards for passing three exams this session.
- Alina Frost, Auri Guarino, Ben Tocher, Jenny Box, Liam Gettins and Mark Campbell for passing their first actuarial exams.
