Supporting Diversity & Inclusion
At APR, we recognise that diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences are fundamental to a thriving organisation. Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is embedded in how we operate - strengthening our decision‑making, enriching our culture, and ensuring we continue to attract and retain talented people from all walks of life.
Our commitment to D&I is guided by our dedicated D&I Strategy Group, led by senior representatives across the business and supported by a network of D&I Ambassadors. Together, they champion initiatives that help create an environment where everyone feels respected, valued and able to excel.
Our approach to D&I goes beyond policy - it is about creating a workplace in which every individual has equitable access to opportunities and support. Key elements of our work include:
We actively review and refine our recruitment materials, processes and assessments to ensure they are fair, accessible and inclusive. This includes detailed analysis of success rates across demographic groups at each stage of recruitment, helping us identify opportunities for improvement.
We are committed to creating a working environment free from discrimination, where people feel comfortable raising ideas, sharing feedback and contributing to meaningful internal projects. Our processes help ensure no colleague is avoidably disadvantaged.
We carry out and report on ongoing diversity measurement. This provides clear, transparent data to inform our decision making and track our progress in areas such as gender, ethnicity and disability (where voluntarily disclosed).
We continually evolve our policies to support the needs of our people. Enhancements to maternity, paternity and flexible working arrangements help ensure everyone can balance work and life, widening access to opportunities across the organisation and reducing the risk of talent loss in the wider actuarial profession.
A key part of our D&I agenda is our commitment to gender diversity. The Women at APR initiative brings together women across the organisation in the form of our Women’s Network. The network provides the opportunity for our employees to share experiences, celebrate achievements and discuss the challenges and opportunities within the actuarial profession.
Once at APR, colleagues have access to comprehensive training, development pathways and mentorship opportunities, enabling them to build their skills and progress in their careers
Alongside general D&I training, all staff receive D&I training tailored to their role, helping build awareness and ensure inclusive behaviours across the business.
Our Commitment Going Forward
D&I is not a one‑off project - it's an ongoing priority. We will continue strengthening our policies, structures and support networks, ensuring APR remains a place where everyone can thrive. Through our collaborative approach, we aim to foster a workplace that reflects our values and drives positive impact across both APR and the wider actuarial profession.
