A Bit About Our Past
APR was founded by Roger Austin and Gary Heslop in 2006. Both actuaries, with experience working in the life, pensions and consultancy sectors, Roger and Gary met at a leading UK outsourcer, where they held a number of key management positions. These positions included Head of Quality, Head of Actuarial Interim Solutions and managing a Graduate Training Scheme.
After moving on from that company Gary and Roger saw an opportunity to utilise their expertise in these three areas, to develop a proposition which was (and still is) unique in the interim actuarial market. This proposition combined:
- Their long-standing relationships with a large number of experienced, high-quality actuarial contractors.
- Practical understanding of what makes a good actuarial student.
- A detailed knowledge of the skill sets that clients find valuable, which has enabled them to develop a market-leading, intensive training programme, allowing graduates to add value to clients within weeks of starting their APR career.
- Their entrepreneurial instincts to be able to introduce this proposition to a market comfortable with the traditional distinction between contract and permanent solutions.
This resulted in innovative, high-quality solutions to the resourcing problems faced by clients; solutions which our business model delivered to clients at rates that represent excellent value relative to alternatives in the market.
To support our continuing growth, in 2015 Tim Nash joined APR as a third partner.
