APR Continues to Grow with Two Senior Appointments
We are pleased to welcome our latest recruits to the business: Phil Creswell and Alan Reed. Both are qualified actuaries with a wealth of experience and specialist skills in the UK Life sector. We are enthused about their ability to extend the range of consulting work we can deliver as we further develop our consulting proposition.
Over a career spanning 24 years, Phil has worked on projects across a wide range of areas including financial reporting, investment, risk management, pricing and systems development. While his broad and extensive technical knowledge will be important factors, it is his talent of being able to get the most out of the available technology to efficiently solve problems which we feel will be critical to adding value to our clients. When he is not studying for formal qualifications (of which he has many), he is learning about and developing new software tools and techniques. It is this inquisitive mindset that makes Phil an ideal fit for APR and we are delighted he is joining us as our Technology Director.
Phil said:
“I have worked alongside APR staff on client projects and I have always been impressed – so when I was offered the chance to join the team it was an easy decision. As well as working on client projects, I will be developing the technology practice. This will involve developing APR’s expertise in areas like data analytics and artificial intelligence as well as the less glamorous, but equally important areas that will help APR deliver projects more efficiently. Although it is early days, I have big plans and I’m looking forward to collaborating with my new colleagues.”
Alan has also has an impressive actuarial career of over 20 years, gaining experience across a wide range of in capital and investment risk management. Some areas of particular note are credit risk, credit quality assessment, the intricacies of the Solvency II matching adjustment, as well as non-traded assets. He brings deep technical knowledge of thorny Solvency II topics and of practical capital management. He is adept at communicating the key levers and risks of complex systems to senior stakeholders in engaging ways.
Alan said:
“APR is in a great place to build on changes in the market for actuarial services and is an excellent fit with my own values. I look forward to working collaboratively with the talented team. Alongside client work, I intend to build APRs visibility in thought leadership on key actuarial topics, and to support the development of the wider APR team.”
We are excited about Phil and Alan’s arrival and we look forward to making some further announcements in the coming months.
